Musician Sulumani Chimbetu Businessman Wicknell Chivayo
The most talked about businessman in Zimbabwe at the moment, Wicknell Chivayo popularly known as Sir Wicknell by many; has once again appreciated another artist with a brand new 2022 Mercedes Benz GLE300d worth USD$140 000.
On his post on Facebook, Sir Wicknell congratulated the well-known Dendera artist, Sulumani Chimbetu with a very long message appreciating his work, talent and commitment to the ruling party.
Wicknell wrote “Congratulations to no one other than the current king of Dendera music himself Mr Sulumani Chimbetu…Your immense contribution and continued support at our ZANU PF rallies cannot just go unnoticed. Obviously I am biased not only because I am a die-hard Dendera music fan but your father Simon the Chopper Chimbetu was my very good friend and to me the best singer of all time ‘The Master of Song”… He respected and loved Zanu Pf till the day of his death.
Every time I passed through Chegutu when we met at Rukawo hotel our only fight and misunderstanding would always be him insisting on paying the bill achiti dzikamai ini ndini mukoma wenyu zvenyu zvekuti mune mari ndezvenyu bamunini.
We got along very well and I would stress him and ask him to sing songs with no microphone and verify lyrics in different songs to ensure I sing the correct lyrics. He was a great man and will always be missed dearly. Back then he sang a beautiful song ‘kuState House Kure’ and till today we witness the truth that chokwadi kurefu nekuti gwara rehondo raida vakashinga; may his soul continue to rest in peace.
So today I say to you mwanangu Sulu please go and enjoy your new 2022 Mercedes Benz GLE300d, if you continue supporting ZANU PF the revolutionary party, your future remains bright. Just some small pocket change well-spent on you whole heartedly. Izvi zvinovengwa nemuroyi chete, join the winning team, #ZANUPFCHIORORO”.
In his response to the gift from Sir Wicknell, Sulumani wrote on his Facebook page saying, “I am sincerely grateful for the incredible gift of a brand new car. Your generosity not only astonishes me but also inspires deep appreciation. Thank you for your continuous support, especially within the music community. Your kindness is truly a blessing and I am honored to have received such a remarkable gesture”.
Many have congratulated Chimbetu in response to this post in the comment section including various public figures saying he truly deserves such recognition and appreciation.
However, though some have said nice things about Sir Wicknell gifting Chimbetu this brand new car barely a week after gifting Jah Praizer with a brand new car also, many have responded with bitterness and anger saying this money could have been used for better things like developing our country, the following comments from Facebook will shed more light, “I would appreciate it more if you try to improve our health system, because after accidents mumapotholes roads enyu iwayo, where are they going to get medicines? Of course we don’t pray for accidents but ummm ameno imi veZanu vacho chifarai ruzhinji tichisuffer kushaya kana paracetamol zvayo,” writes Phai Chiks.
“Looted funds I repeat looted funds,” says Brenda Chipokore.
Onward Mudapakati said “Now it is starting to make sense, you are being used as a front guy with the state”.
There are many more negative comments of people thinking that Sir Wicknell is being used by the government or that he should give the money to the poor than giving people who have it already but Sir Wicknell has proved that he is unapologetic for what he does with his money and that he is a die-hard supporter of ZANU PF.
