“BIG PAPA,” Declares “Song of the Year”
In a captivating performance at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show last Saturday, the renowned DJ Fantan, known for his energetic and charismatic presence, made a series of exciting announcements that left the crowd buzzing with excitement.

The dynamic DJ took to the stage, introducing his team from Chillspot Records, the skilled DJ Levels and DJ Rhibhe whose local tune mixes did not disappoint.
In a particularly memorable moment, Fantan acknowledged the impressive performance of his homeboy, Killer T, to whom he declared his hit song Kana Ndanyura, as the “Song of the Year”. “It’s the Song of the year, Vaudzeyi kuti ndini ndadaro. Tell them BIG PAPA said so. My daughters gave me a new name today BIG PAPA, somebody say BIG PAPA,” said DJ Fantan much to the joy of the massive crowd who responded by calling the name “BIG PAPA.”
Notably, throughout the performance, the heavily built BIG PAPA, DJ Fantan was a constant presence, moving across the stage, showing off his gigantic dance moves and interacting with his colleagues here and there.

Comments from the audience solidified his status as a dominant force in the local music scene. “I had never been really exposed to DJ Fantan and Chillsport Records ’art but I only knew his name but from today onwards, if I had it my way, I would attend all their shows,” exclaimed 49-year-old Mrs Makahamadze, housewife from Budiriro.
Mrs Moyo from Greendale shared her approval of the new name, “Big Papa signifies growth and sort of gives a level and sense of respect and I am also impressed by their performance.”
While young Wesley Mukanganise of Southlands could not hide his allegiance, support and acceptance of the new name using contemporary slang, “Kwatova kudhara, zvakatoendwa, zvinotova zvinhu, BIG PAPA tirikutoda,” he said.
